What is career coaching?
A career coach is a professional ally. One who will use their experience to help you build self-confidence, a better understanding of yourself (your values, skills, strengths and weaknesses) and help you start, re-start or improve your career.
Career coaching will involve talking, it will usually also involve tasks which help you hone your skills and set plans into action.
What is LEAN, and what is my role as an adviser?
I am part of the Mayor of London’s London Enterprise Adviser Network (LEAN) which connects schools and colleges with the world of work. The London Enterprise Adviser Network aids young people to collect the necessary skills and experience in order to build a succesful future.
We connect businesses with schools, to create a network of business volunteers called Enterprise Advisers and School Careers Leaders. Our aim is to make young people aware of the many career opportunities they can choose from.
As an Enterprise Adviser, I work with my designated school’s Careers Leader to provide their students with great careers guidance. I contribute to creating a careers support plan, and help students to make informed and important decisions about their futures. With my help, students develop the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their potential.
The world of work is constantly shifting. Careers that were available ten years ago, no longer exist and new ones are emerging all the time.
